Tutoring Programs     Monday5:00 pm - 6:00 pm  Guardian Angels Church

Thursday 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm Greek Orthodox Church of the Holy Spirit

The refugees need to learn the English language.  It is essential to their adjustment. Saints's Place conducts a tutoring program. Volunteers work one-on-one with refugee children and teens in order that they can excel in our American schools. The volunteers become a friend,  build trust and confidence and act as an advocate. For adult tutoring, the emphasis is not only learning the language, but also instructing them on how to pay bills, learn to use transportation, make appointments and other areas of concern.

Household Setups

Saint's Place furnishes each residence with all of the necessary items the refugee will need in order to create a home. Sofas, chairs, tables, beds, lamps, all kitchen utensils, bed linens, bathroom accessories, etc. Most of these items are donated by the people of Rochester, New York. Other items like beds, bedframes and pillows are purchased by Saint's Place.

Saints Place operates a clothing closet at St. John of Rochester. It is the largest clothing closet in Rochester operating solely on donations. The Clothing Closet is open four days a week, and provides a vast array of clothing for men, women and children.  Our volunteers individually assist the refugees in the selection of clothes for all seasons. School supplies and backpacks are given to the children along with toys.  Again, all items provided are at no cost to the refugee families.
