Bishop Salvatore Matano’s visit to Saint’s Place motivated, inspired and challenged all of us.
On January 20th, Bishop Salvatore Matano visited the Saint’s Place Clothing Closet located at Saint John of Rochester.  His enthusiasm and gratitude for the countless hours spent by our volunteers was awesome!  He mentioned several times that it was clearly evident that the volunteers respected the dignity of the refugees. The presentation of the clothing, the care and concern that was involved in setting up the various rooms clearly demonstrated the dedication of the volunteers.  Bishop Matano also greeted ten, recently arrived, Cuban refugees.
If you would like to see how the Clothing Closet operates, please call 385-6860 so we can arrange a tour for you.  We would be most happy to show you what a difference volunteers can make in the lives of newly arrived refugees.

Cuban refugees at our Clothing Closet...so happy to be in the United States.

St. Bonaventure University  Spends a Saturday Helping
On Saturday, February 11, 2017, nine students and two faculty members from St. Bonaventure University arrived and worked all day dressing Cuban refugees as well as going out on the truck/van  to set up two apartments for four Cuban females.  Their enthusiasm and spirit were constant.  This relationship with St. Bonaventure now enters its fifth year wherein the incoming freshmen bring us school supplies which last for five months or more.  Three times a year a group of students come to Saint's Place to spend a Saturday helping us.

The students bring energy and a sincere desire to help the less fortunate.  It renews our spirit and challenges us to do more.     Thank you, St. Bonaventure University.

Saint’s Place was able to assist a record number of over 500 newly arrived refugees since July 1,2016. None of this would be possible without the continuous support of our wonderful volunteers and the generous donations from our community.
